On May 11 I will embark on a seven-week bicycle journey across the U.S. -- Los Angeles to Boston -- with CrossRoads Cycling Adventures. I have dreamed about the possibility of doing this for about ten years ever since my husband, Lee, and one other man rode across together (unsupported, I might add) in 1997. I have decided to turn this epic adventure into a fund-raising effort for The Boys and Girls Club of Central Arkansas. As former board members, Lee and I are fully dedicated to the club's goal to provide positive lifeskills programs for our area's youth. I am also dedicating this ride to honor the memory of a dear friend, avid cyclist, and Boys and Girls Club Hall of Fame member Kenny Stroud, who died on June 1, 2007. Kenny believed in the club's positive influence on youth and he lived his life giving back to the community. I would appreciate any pledge or donation you can make to my ride to help me reach my goal of $10,000 for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Arkansas. Please join me in my 3,415 mile journey as I update this blog with stories, pictures and experiences over the next seven weeks!
